Thomas Lecuit heads the “Architecture and Dynamics of Biological Tissues” team at the Institute of Developmental Biology of Marseille (IBDM). He was awarded the silver medal of the CNRS in 2015 and elected member of the Academy of Sciences and Academia Europaea in 2014. Thomas Lecuit is a cell and developmental biologist who profoundly renewed our knowledge of the information underlying cellular organization and dynamics during tissue morphogenesis. His work, recognized internationally, has contributed to the emergence of a new field of research at the interface between cell biology, genetics and physics: mechanobiology. His appointment as chair of “Dynamics of Living Systems” is in line with long lasting tradition at the Collège de France to foster interdisciplinary interactions and the emergence of new disciplines.
