Alisson Gontijo - Short Bio

alisson gontijo

Alisson Gontijo is a Principal Investigator at the Chronic Diseases Research Centre (CEDOC), NOVA Medical School, in Lisbon. His major research contributions were to have helped elucidate the epigenetic mechanisms controlling malaria parasite antigenic variation, the molecular evolution of de novo protein coding regions, and the molecular nature of the neuroendocrine Dilp8-Lgr3 relaxin-like pathway that coordinates growth and maturation time in animals carrying tumours or regenerating tissues. His lab is currently interested in the neuroendocrine control of development and in developing new technologies for cellular targeting.
