Marcos Gonzalez-Gaitan is a group leader at the Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Science of the University of Geneva. Marcos Gonzalez-Gaitan did his PhD in Madrid with Antonio Garcia-Bellido. The problem he tried to tackle back then was growth control in imaginal discs and he learned that, to understand development, we must focus our work at the level of single cells. Marcos Gonzalez-Gaitan started his group in the Max-Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics in Dresden and then moved to Geneva in 2006. His group wants to understand how cells talk to each other in physical and molecular terms during development.
